I want to thank you for your prayers and thoughts concerning Haiti and give you a brief update on our planned involvement. I spoke with Danita yesterday and she is planning on adopting some children from Port Au Prince as she did when the hurricanes caused flooding in Gonaives when many of those children's parents perished. In about 10 days she will be exploring that same possibility of rescuing orphans from Port Au Prince.Also, we have been in contact with Mission of Hope and Christian Haitian Outreach in Port Au Prince and at this time, financial support is their greatest need--not people on the ground. So, we will send support to them immediately since their need is imminent due to their proximity to the quake.Our plan is to raise funds in the weeks to come and work in cooperation with both Danita's Children, Mission of Hope and Christian Haitian Outreach. We are glad to announce that Pastor Rob and Laura Koke and their congregations in Austin will also be joining with us to funnel contributions to these ministries. I feel that it is important that we work with a long range plan that will allow us to lend support to these, our missionaries, who have the greatest insight on how we can help to affectively meet needs in the months and years to come.I know that there is a great sense of urgency in all of us to physically do something "right now" but we must remember restoration will be a long process. I feel that we should follow the lead of the missionaries we support and work with in order to "target" their needs as they serve the Haitians. We will keep you informed should the opportunity present itself for us to travel to Haiti to lend physical support.Thank you so much for your prayers and what you have already given financially. Let's not forget Haiti in the months to come. When all the cameras and news stations leave the country of Haiti there will remain a great need; let's be a part of shining Gods light into the Haitain darkness once all the generators have gone silent and the light fades.
